Outbreak of Pneumonia in Wuhan City, Hubei, China (Update 4)

The ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, continues to spread.

As of 28 January 2020, international spread has been seen in numerous other countries including in Europe.

The current outbreak originated in Wuhan city, which is a major domestic and international transport hub. Given the large population movements, and the observed human to human transmission, it is not unexpected that new confirmed cases will continue to appear in other areas and countries.

This is a new and rapidly evolving situation where information on cases and the virus is being gathered and assessed daily. Advice to Travellers

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)currently advise against all non essential travel to China. However, FCO travel advisories are subject to change, prior to travel please check the FCO for latest advice:

If travellers become symptomatic, they should not travel whilst ill to prevent the spread of infection. Anyone returning who becomes unwell, particularly with respiratory symptoms, within 14 days of their return, they should call their GP or NHS 24 (Scotland, call 111) or NHS 111 (England and Wales)  and report their recent travel.
