Accessibility statement for Fit for Travel
This accessibility statement applies to the Fit for Travel website: www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk.
This website is run by Public Health Scotland. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and Voiceover)
We’ve also made this website's text as simple as possible to understand.
To help us make sure our information is as accessible as possible, we've developed a policy that sets out our standards.
AbilityNet offers guidance on making your device more accessible if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. This includes some PDF documents and the malaria maps. However, a text alternative for content within the malaria maps is included on destination pages: https://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/destinations/

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Public Health Scotland is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances.
Non-accessible content
The content listed here is non-accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- PDF documents: PDF files may not be fully accessible.
- Malaria maps on destination pages may not be fully accessible to screen readers or usable via keyboard:
- the malaria risk is shown visually on a static image file
- there's text on the images providing information about the maps, which will not be able to be interpreted by screen readers
- the maps themselves are image maps, so the tab order/focus will not work
Disproportionate burden
Public Health Scotland is currently reviewing the national travel health services, which include the Fit for Travel website. We consider that conducting a full accessibility audit of this website while the services are being reviewed would be disproportionate.
