Dengue Fever in Philippines

During 2013, 2702 cases of dengue fever were recorded in the Caragas region. The worst affected municipalities were Butuan City with 839 cases and Agusan del Sur with 538 cases. As of 11 December 2013, 10 326 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in Davao region. The worst affected municipality is Davao City with 6314 cases. Negros Oriental province recorded 3418 cases of dengue fever during 2013. Dumaguete was the worst affected municipality with 1041 cases.
Advice for Travellers
Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, by covering up with clothing, the use of bite avoidance measures such as repellent and bed nets is advised. Elimination of breeding sites around hotel rooms/houses is advised for longer term stays.
