Cholera in Yemen (Update 3)

On 15 June 2017 the World Health Organisation reported 29 562 suspected cholera cases and 172 associated deaths from  5 June  to 12 June 2017. About half of the total suspected cholera cases have been reported from Amanat Al Asimah, Al Hudaydah, Amran and Hajjah governorates since October 2016.

Advice to Travellers

Cholera is a low risk for most travellers. Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food/water precautions and personal hygiene should be maintained whenever possible.
