Active Zika virus (ZIKV) transmission continues in Florida. As of 4 October 2016 the Florida Department of Health has reported a total of 133 cases of non-travel related ZIKV virus infection. Maps of the zones affected in Miami-Dade County can be accessed here
ZIKV is not being locally transmitted in any other state of America.

ZIKV is most commonly spread by mosquito bites, but there is also a risk of sexual transmission. There is a link between ZIKV infection and babies being born with birth defects.
