Dengue in France: update 1

In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, 4 cases in Gardanne, Bouches-du-Rhône department. Seven cases in Boulbon, also in Bouches-du-Rhône department. One case was reported in Nice, with travel history to Castellet and La Garde in the Var department.
In Occitanie region, 11 Perpignan, Pyrénées Orientales department. Six cases in Gagnières in the Gard department.
In the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, 2 cases in Bourg les Valence, Drôme department.
Advice for Travellers
Dengue is an infection spread by mosquito bites and can cause a severe flu-like illness. It has occurred in France in recent years.
The mosquitoes which transmit dengue bite during the day, between dawn and dusk. They are particularly persistent and aggressive.
If you are travelling to an affected region, you are potentially at risk of dengue fever and should be aware of this infection.
- You can protect yourself by avoiding mosquito bites at all times.
If you develop a high temperature (fever) either during or after travelling to an affected area, you should seek medical advice as soon as possible and give details of your recent travel history.
