Flooding and mudslides in Brazil
08 April 2010
The city of Rio de Janeiro is badly affected by flooding and mudslides as a result of heavy rains last week.
Power and transport services in many parts of the city have also been affected and there have been some casualties. Local authorities are advising people to remain at home until further notice. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) are monitoring the situation.
Advice for travellers
- UK citizens in the affected area should check the FCO website for the latest advice and follow local media reports for updates.
- There are currently no travel restrictions in place in Brazil.
