Yellow Fever in Bolivia (Cochabamba)

21 Jun 2017

An 18-year-old man in Potosi has died of yellow fever, the first such death in a decade. The man reported frequent travel to Villa Tunari, an area with a tropical climate in Cochabamba. The Departmental Health Services reported that the young man had not been vaccinated.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers are advised to use personal protective measures when entering areas where yellow fever is present. This includes usingĀ insect repellents and wearing appropriate clothing.

A vaccine is available for travellers to protect against yellow fever and all travellers going to Brazil should seek advice from their travel health provider about vaccination.
