07 Mar 2017

On the 6 March 2017 the World Health Organisation (WHO) updated the yellow fever (YF) vaccination recommendations for international travellers in relation to an ongoing outbreak of the disease in Brazil.

Yellow Fever virus transmission continues to expand into areas in Brazil that were not previously deemed to be a risk.

An updated YF risk map can be accessed here

Advice for Travellers

Travellers are advised to use personal protective measures when entering areas where yellow fever is present. This includes using insect repellents and wearing appropriate clothing.

A vaccine is available for travellers to protect against yellow fever and all travellers going to Brazil should seek advice about vaccination.
