13 Apr 2015

The Minstry of Health for Peru has reported nine cases of yellow fever in the country during the first three months of 2015. The cases were all identified in rural areas of the following regions: Loreto (2 cases); Pasco (one case); Piura (1 case), Puno (one case) and San Martin (4 cases).

Advice for Travellers

There is a risk of yellow fever in certain areas of Peru, mainly east of the Andes and vaccination is advised for travellers to these parts. Travellers to Peru should seek advice regarding the need for yellow fever vaccination well in advance.

Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites if visiting yellow fever and malaria risk areas of Peru.
