Dengue Fever in Australia (Cairns)

A small number of dengue fever cases has been reported in Edminton in the suburbs of southern Cairns. One case of dengue fever has recently been identified in the Trinity Beach area in northern Cairns. Cases were first reported around two weeks ago and a total of 8 have been recorded thus far in the season.

Advice for Travellers

Cairns is a popular destination for UK travellers and they should be aware that there is a risk of dengue fever at certain times of the year. Travellers are advised to take precautions against mosquito bites.
