Important Information About Our Malaria Maps

27 Sep 2017

Our team are constantly looking at ways to improve our advice and are currently undertaking a review of how we create our malaria maps. As part of this we have made a change to the shading we use on some of our maps. Where we previously used 'hatching' on the map, this has been replaced with a mid-pink block colour. This is used in areas which are classed as 'low risk with additional advice'.

In addition, there is a very small number of maps where 'variable risk' classification is used and the colour used for this is orange.

We always advise users to check the key of our malaria maps and to use them in conjunction with the malaria advice text for countries.

We believe these changes help to improve the clarity of the malaria maps and our efforts to improve the maps is ongoing.
